And the MX is cheaper, too!

I really don't understand why people get the KDW2. It's a good tire, similar to the Yokohama ES100 and Kumho SPT, but it's almost twice the price. Doesn't make any sense to me.

The Kumho MX is a very good tire at a very good price ($80 for 205/50-15). It might be just what you need. What, exactly, are you looking for, that makes you want to consider something else instead of the MX again? Better performance? If so, then get the super-sticky Falken Azenis RT-615 for about the same price (although they won't last anywhere near as long as the MX) or the Bridgestone S-03 for a lot more money. Lower price? If so, the SPT and ES100 are both great for the money (although the performance isn't as good as the MX), and the similar Dunlop Direzza DZ101 is still $45 at Edge Racing.

Yes! Exactly what I wanted to hear! I was considering this tire b/c of the better ratings on Tirerack...On the MX's, the set I have now need to be replaced and will be b/c of new wheels on the way but I LOVED those tires. They were awesome in the rain, superb dry traction, stability in corners was perfection, road noise wasnt bad, ect... and they have lasted a little over a year. Just wanted to see if the KDW 2's were worth the extra "dime" or not. Looks like I will be sticking with the MX's! Thanks guys!

the g-force sport got the same rating and they are $71. ANYONE USE THESE? BUT I THINK IF U DONT MIND SPENDING SOME MONEY GOODYEAR GS-D3 ARE THE WAY TO GO. $88 for 195 50 15.

The BFGoodrich g-force Sport has MUCH WORSE performance than the KDW 2. It's just not up to today's standards for "budget performance tires".

Think of it this way, in terms of 195/50-15 tires. The Yokohama ES100 and the Kumho Ecsta SPT offer very good performance for $59 and $54, respectively. The BFGoodrich g-force Sport is a BIG step down in performance from these, and costs more ($66). The g-force Sport is similar in performance to the Dunlop FM901 and Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 tires that were okay tires for the money years ago, before the ES100 came out. Now, Dunlop is replacing its crappy FM901 with the Dunlop Direzza DZ101, with performance similar to the ES100, and Kumho is replacing its crappy 712 with the Kumho Ecsta SPT. Heck, the BFG g-force Sport couldn't even beat the 712 in Tire Rack testing, and the 712 is the tire that lost to the ES100 in all 23 out of 23 characteristics tested.

Above prices are per the Tire Rack website for 195/50-15.

Again, I really don't understand why people would buy either BFG tire. You can get a lot better performance for the money with other tires on the market.

If you're shopping for 195/50-15 tires, I would get the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 if you want the best performance ($88); if you want to spend less and you don't mind a little lower performance, then get the Kumho SPT ($54) or the Yokohama ES100 ($59). Any of these will give you the best performance for the money.

If you're shopping for 205/50-15 tires, the Kumho Ecsta MX is pretty good for $80. If you want to spend less and you don't mind a little lower performance, you can get the Kumho SPT for $59, or for a real bargain, the Dunlop Direzza DZ101 is still available from Edge Racing for $45 (and don't judge it by the price; the Tire Rack sells the same tire for $58, and it's similar in performance to the SPT).

Look into Bridgestone Potenza G009's they are a tirerack.com best pick. Super awsome in all weather conditions, ive had mine for a year and a half now and some 30k miles excellent tread wear and sporty tread pattern.

The Bridgestone G009 is crap. It's an all-season tire, and won't perform as well in moderate to warm temperatures as even the inexpensive summer tires like the Yokohama ES100. And it's a mediocre all-season tire, nowhere near as good as the better all-season tires like the Kumho Ecsta ASX (which are in the Tire Rack's highest performance all-season category, which the G009 is not).

What a terrible recommendation for someone looking for high performance summer tires!

I just got the BFG G-Force TA KDW's and acutally like them SO FAR. Aggressive, horrible looking tread... they actually pull a lot less then the tires I was running before. Its probably just becuase the tires I had b4 were so bad (Proxes) and that these are better because there new and actually don't break loose on a stck car.

Are you sure you're not talking about the g-force T/A KDW 2 (the newer, second generation version of the KDW)? The KDW comes only in sizes that are bigger than the tires we get for Civics, Integras, etc. The KDW 2 is the one that we've been discussing here. And again, IMHO the KDW 2 is a good tire, but it sells at a price a lot higher than some other tires offering similar performance.

Here's the KDW:

And here's the KDW 2:

oh my bad i may have misread what he was looking for. thought he was looking for a good tire in general. and the G009's is ONE of many of tireracks top picks. and its handled everything ive thrown at it from driving on the country roads to plowin threw the snow.

Best bang for buck in IMO is the yoko es100s. I use 205/50/15s on my hatch and i love them.

The ES100 is an excellent tire for the money. However, it is a better deal in certain sizes than in others. The 205/50-15 size is one where the ES100 is not such a good deal. In that size, the ES100 is $75, the Kumho Ecsta SPT is around $60, and Edge Racing still has the Dunlop Direzza DZ101 on special for $45. All three of these tires offer very similar performance, and in most sizes their prices are similar too; for whatever reason, that is not true of 205/50-15.

I had KDW2's on my SRT. They're kinda noisy on the highway. Wet traction is unreal. Dry traction is pretty damn good too. I'm just not sure that they're as good as their price would indicate.
