Default Finally got a ride in a SC'ed Ap2...

I'll be honest, i've been debating whether or not SC my car... and after finally going for a ride in my friends Comptech w/ aftercooler ... i've decided that the SC is a major let down. Coming from cars like an MKIV Supra, FC RX-7 TII, i thought the SC would feel faster... I really don't like the boost only in Vtec... esp. since the AP2 only had about 2000 rpms of play... and the clutch delay did ruin the experience. I'm going to try and get a ride in my other friends AP1 w/ 302rwhp Comptech /w 4.56s. Hopefully i'll be more impressed. If anyone is considering the SC and had previously owned a Turbo car... please get a ride first, becuase if you were like me, you will be let down... It looks like turbo might be the way for me...

cliffnotes..
rode in SC Ap2 and was let down due to the fact i've own other boost'ed cars.

and for all the haters... these are just the thought of me... i could care less about your car or your friends...

its a focking 4 banger DUDE! it was not put on this world to be a dyno queen like your other cars. A SC'd s2k with an outta the box Comptech kit is 300hp, what are you smoking? what more do you want ?

I have chased down and beat several stock turbo supras and rx7s in a SC s2k. your dude must drive like a puss.

He wants more area under the torque curve, which isn't gonna happen.

the problem with the superchargers availible for our cars is that they are centrifugal.... the good thing about that is that it's utilizes an aftercooler or in some cases an intercooler to chill the air charge..... however.. you don't hit full boost till redline.... and the power curve is very linear similar to an NA car.....

you're coming from cars that have turbo chargers.... where when boost kicks in you feel the jerk and you take off.... so of course the feel of the supercharged S would feel slow cause you don't get that jerking feeling when you stomp on it....however.... the car only weighs 2800lbs or so...... with 300rwhp... you can easily take out most of the cars out there... and if you happen to truely modify it and hit the 400rwhp mark with the supercharger you can pretty much beat anything on the streets.....

but if you like the head jerking feeling that you get from cars with massive torque.. then turbo is the way to go on the S....

thank you.. i understand the dynamics of FI. I simply was let down from all the hype i've been reading about. Everyone on the damn internet forums, talks about SC'ing so much. I just don't see the big deal, at least yet.

just wondering if the car you rode in was tuned or not? I rode in a s/c car before it got tuned and it didn't feel any different from my stock s2k...of course while i was getting the ride I played it off like it was quick...the driver even knew it wasn't that fast. he said that after he got it tuned it was a night and day difference. I still haven't been able to get a ride in it since...so can't say if it is different or not. but that may be a reason on why you weren't happy

The powerband in the a s/c S is very smooth and decieving. My g/f has an S to and when she first drove mine, she didnt think it was that big of deal. I ran her from a roll and pulled 5 cars on her from 2nd to beggining of 4th. The powers there, I agree its lacking the torque so its a different feel to a turbo Supra or RX7.

your car pulls hard.

but like all will agree, the torque plays a big factor...

yea i can see where the thread starter is comming from, my S is sc'd. Before my S i owned a ls/vtec 2.0L turbo integra pushing 300whp and 245tq. Now compared to how my S feels compared to my integra, big difference. Even though its similiar hp #'s, the power deliever was very different. But the S with a SC kit is still fairly nice, just not as nice a turbo. At least its smog legal

I don't think I could be disappointed from a 300rwhp bolt on kit in a 2800lb car.

I still think a S/C S2k is a good investment, like everyone say the power band is just like NA. With some rick's 4.56 gears in the Ap2 s/c that shit will rip! I tell you that right now.

Tell your buddy to get a good clutch and take the clutch delay out and do get some gears!

OH yeah if you want torque, wait until the BRP Root blower comes out on the S2k. Then my friend you'll feel the jerk neck snapping.

NIce! that is a really simple set up but yet I feel it will be effective. There a video on streetfire.net where a S2k + I/h/E + 4.56 gear vs a SRT + lots of bolts on. They ran on the fwy and the SRT couldn't shake him until 90-100mph. I think that's pertty damn good.

here the video of it.

I have to say that i thought the sc would be dumb and pointless on the S, liking the idea of itb's. but I drove my buddies S with the comptech/aftercooled with the veilside exhaust. Mybe it was the deafening exhaust and the sound of the sc but it felt alot faster than my stock ap1. in vtec my head was thown back so it was better than expected.I also has a stage 3 exedy clutch.

I guess people still dont get it.. If you want a super fast drag car just get a hatch build the motor for boost there you go. I have a friend making 300whp with the vortech kit, its not a beast but its definatly not slow. And as for tourque, get over the fact that its a honda and the rod stroke ratio on our motors will always be set up for highreving making it hard to make crazy tq numbers.
