Default ABS leaks 0-rings (w/pics)

hi, hope this helps,

So BUNMANGO here on ht has a 97 GSR 4 door, he noticed that the abs resevoir kept losing fluid level. there were leaks in a few places so we figured we'd replace everything that could leak on it.

We replaced the:
ABS Motor O-ring part #24
Accumulator O-ring part #23
Resevoir part #3(there are 3 orings on it but it all comes in a resevoir kit u cant buy the rings seperate).

part #'s are according to the parts fische

the honda part numbers are as follows:
Acumulator O-ring #23 = 57019ST5000
Motor O-ring #24 = 57315ST5003
Resevoir #3 = Will update later
Resevoir comes with the tank, the little white L (connects resevoir to back side of unit, and the 3 O-rings)

if you need bigger pictures, go here: http://www.modemboy.net/gallery/gsr_abs

Special notes:
ABS system operates under extreme pressure, wear safety googles ect, we dont need anyone getting hurt. Brake fluid is also extremely corrosive and toxic, dont get it on your skin or any plastic (headlights) or paint. wash with water and soap asap. DO NOT REMOVE the bolt on the top of the accumulator, it will release NO2 at 10,000 psi, very dangerous. there is a reason there is epoxy around it

Tools needed:
10mm socket + Extension (for airbox)
10mm combination (for accumulator)
12mm socket (for abs pump
12mm combination wrench (for abs mounts)
6 pack of long

Resevoir
1. remove 2 phillips screws on top of resevoir.
2. wiggle resevoir free
3. clean everything off
4. install new resevoir
5. replace everything in reverse

Accumulator O-ring
1. Start by removing the air box (3x10mm)
2. Then disconnect the 2 Orange harnesses (pull them off the mounts first or they will never come apart. One is for the motor (this will disable the abs motor from pumping incase someone accidentally turns the ignition on.
3. Remove the 3 Nuts holding the unit to the mounting bracket (12mm combination is all you need). Prop the unit up with a block of wood so you dont have to hold it up
4. Undo 2x10mm bolts under the accumulator one at a time. when undoing the second bolt, the unit will squirt jizz nasty so get a rag and cover it. the accumulator is set at 10,000 psi, enuf to cut you in half, but dont worry, its not so dramatic but you might get wet. Pull the accumulator off, clean everything off, put new oring, replace.
5. sip beer

ABS motor
1. prop the abs unit up with a stick so you can look under it. dont worry about bending the pipes, they will not break, they are made to be bent but be careful not to kink them.
2. undo the 2x12mm bolts under the motor, remove motor.
3. remove oring from underside of unit. it looks like there is no oring there, but its stuck in a grove so you might have to pick it out with a toothpick. do not use a metal object, you will score the metal and it wont seal later.
4. clean everything off
5. push new o-ring in place and re-install motor. make sure the oring does not fall out or is not crooked, or else it will rip and then your gonna hate it
6. reinstall everything
7. sip beer.

Brake Bleeding instructions:
if you dont know how to bleed brakes, go here https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=914614
Tools needed:
10mm combination wrench
1/4" tube

Refill abs pump and master cylinder resevoir, continuously check level.
bleed brakes order: Right rear, front left, rear left, front right (for 1997 gsr) check order for other models.

1. There is a bleed valve on the top of the abs unit. it is covered by a black nipple. remove nipple (dont do this to your gf, she will castrate you). put 1/4" tube over bleed valve and into a bucket ect.
2. Turn car on you will hear the abs motor buzz, this means it is pumping, check for leaks. then undo valve, you will see fluid come out to a level, then you will hear the pump start again. close valve, refill level, undo valve, hear pump, close valve, refill ...do a few times. when there are no more bubbles, you are done.
3. you will notice the motor turns off when you close the valve, this is because the level in the accumulator is correct. when you open the valve, the fluid is released, thus the pump needs to refill it, thats why it turns on.

Final Note:
Brake fluid is water soluable. it will dissolve in H20 (water). rinse down everything that has brake fluid on it, chassis, motor, body ect. if you get brake fluid on yourself, wash it immidiately. brake fluid is an extreme oxidizer, it will eat thru steel, paint, anything almost. it melted bunmago's jdm headlights so please be careful.

Edit: BUNMANGO was able to clean the oxidation off his JDM headlights, thank god

You should add this to the Integra FAQ. PM the mod.

Blue Hybrid?, what is the Honda part number for the O-rings on #3-Reservoir?

You said you were going to update the sticky.

I did the fix, but didn't solve the problem. Apparently 94-97 Integra have a weak modulator or something. 98+ are suppose to be better.

I did the fix and bled the accumulator and each brake in the proper order and still have a error light on, but just haven't had the time to check it again. Probably will in the next 2 mo.
