Uh.... What and leave it unbolted hanging half off the car? Yes, that would be bad...

I think he means run his car without a muffler.
And yes. It would be bad on everyone's ears.

Wouldnt sound good. Also it wouldnt be legal so you would probably get pulled over and ticketed.

All that not withstanding, it will sound like shit, but will not wreck your car to just run around w/o the can... You will most likely get a ticket though just for the noise... And if you get caught with no muffler you will get a bigger ticket. -PM |

I didn't realize you could unbolt one.
The only thing you could take off, as far as exhaust, that would damage your engine is the headers. If you take off anything after that, you won't hurt anything...except our ears. |

For anyone to correctly answer this question... we would first need this mans definition of what "BAD" is....
bad for the car ....not really bad for the environment.... yes bad noise pollution ....yes bad for picking up women....yes...unless you like a yetti ! Good for catching ppls attention though.... prolly followed by booo's or the middle finger.

Some friends of mine do this at the strip. They take off the axle back portion for weight savings/ a little bit less restriction. I don't know, what ever floats your boat man

first, it's not going to help performance. second, there's a reason your muffler is not right behind the cat: to get the exhaust gas out from under your car. you're going to end up getting carbon deposits all under your car. just get an aftermkt exhaust. if you just want sound, get a cheap one from pep boys or fleabay...

One thing that you all are forgetting to mention is that a muffler is also effective in cooling exhaust gases, which decreases the amount of NOx present in the output.

lol, taking off your muffler DOES sound better than most exhausts and doesnt produce any ricey sounds that some exhausts do. Ive been running without a muffler for some time and its just as loud as my apexi n1 i had on my h22 except in wot vtec its very loud. Othert than that ppl will think you have a very nice aftermarket exhaust. |
