Default New pics of my 1964 Honda S600 convertible.

To everyone seeing this thread for the first time: Sorry, my pictures disappeared. I had them hosted with imagestation, and I failed to transfer them to another hosting site before imagestation shut down.

However, here are at least a couple I had on photobucket:

___________________________

Here are some pics of my 1964 Honda S600 before I put her away for the winter. She's an all original car, with 22000 kilometers (about 13000 miles), RHD, optional hardtop, and is the oldest known S600 to exist in the United States.

Enjoy:

Some interior shots. As you will see, the interior is not as nice as the exterior, the wooden steering wheel is broken, the seats will need recovered, and it needs carpet, but the dash, and door panels are in very nice condition.

Look how simple the door panel is

And here's the powerplant; 606cc's of fury, DOHC inline 4 cyclinder, 11000 rpm redline, and a brand new set of Mikuni Carbs.

Check out the VIN plate, it's JDM

Then I put the glass covers back on the headlights (they were off because I didn't want them breaking while the car was being trailered):

That's all for now, I'll update with new pics as I add the finishing touches to the car.

Flame away

That is absolutely awesome!! That is a car made for jamming out to Elvis and some Johny Cash.

I'd really love to see it restored and a motor build. I can understand wanting to keep the original engine in it, but somethign more modern would absolutely dominate in a car that small.

The only thing that needs restored on the car is the interior, and maybe some attention to detail in the engine bay. The engine was completely rebuilt in the early 90s, and this is the original numbers matching engine to this car; I would never even consider butchering this car with some swap, swaps are for "dime a dozen" civics and integras

I completely agree with you on that one man. Plus 11000 RPM has to be pretty fun to drive.

I'm curuios about the motor....is in an OHV setup? I mean if it is OHC then I've never seen anything even vaguely like it, but I have no clue what a honda pushrod setup woudl look like. Seriously, is a fascinating post for a guy like me that enjoys anyting that treads off the beaten track.

Oh yeah and WERD for the carbs being located where they are. SHould be cake to fab up some kind of ducting system to get air to them more easily.

The engine is a DOHC, OHV (2 valves per cylinder), with a roller bearing crank (everything about this engine says "motorcycle"). The engine sits at a 45 degree angle in the engine bay. I have a dimensional drawing of the engine from the S600 shop manual, I'll see if I can upload that so you can see how it's designed.

Thats what I was thinking from the pics, but I didn't think that level of sophistication woudl show up on a regular old car in the 60's. Absolutely incredible IMO. I'm assuming it uses a plain jane mechanical dizzy. Almost makes you wish they had a mechanical fuel injection system like some of the older high end cars did.

Wow....that diagram is really cool. Strange to see how similar it is to a B series is so many ways.....plus pentroof chambers from what I can see. Talk about being WAY ahead of the tech curve of the domestic motors at the time.

Agreed.....it would be a beastly little roadster, but for a car that rare and that old its perfectly understandable to keep it OE.
