Buy those seats if you are looking for a STATUS symbol.

That's not to say a knockoff is a bad thing. There are "knockoffs" that are nicely-crafted, safe items with FIA homologation and the engineering to back it up, that just borrowed the styling from a name brand item. These don't seem to be that, though. It looks like they tried to combat the flexiness common to this "generic" seat design by adding even more stiffening ribs to the backrest than the usual "tree" pattern. But $1195 for that? HAH! Might as well buy a Memoryfab for a third of that.

You guys and your non-FIA seats are playing with fire, IMO. Poke at it long enough and you'll get burned.

They are working on their FIA approval. I've already asked.

This company has been out in the market for a couple years but none of their products have FIA approval. The last time I talked to a rep was SEMA show 2k4 and they were still getting things together. Seats are very snug and extremely light. I still wouldn't get one until the FIA approves them.

like any company that's in its infancy they have to go thru certain processes. we've had these seats in 650hp gtr's to 1000hp supras, and the seats are second to none. We're happy to see something new as far as the seat category goes, once everything works itself out with there FIA approval, I think you will see STATUS lead the forefront of the seat industry on all categories.

Plus, just because a seat is put in a high HP car doesn't mean it's safe if that's what you're saying.

that's not what i'm saying at all, what i'm saying is as I read this thread I read a lot of hear say bashing from people who have not even experienced the seats. all I was saying was that I have had actual experience with the seats and don't have one complaint.
as far as the seats being nitadimi rebadges i've never heard of that I know STATUS was started not that long ago and are currently going thru there FIA approval. once again like I said in my earlier post i'm just a happy consumer to see a new face in the racing seat market. |

Excellent seats. I found out this week that they are full one piece fiberglass, carbon fiber and/or kevlar shells. No other company really does that I believe. All of their materials have been choosen with quality and safety in mind they said. Also, at the SEMA Show they had a cut away of the materials that they use for all the seat mounting locations that hold the seat to the side mount and they look really good. This is the info that I picked up and I really believe that they could be an excellent name in the market. Oh yeah.....the guys at the booth also told me that they seats are also produced in Taiwan at their own manufacturering plant with the Carbon Fiber and Kevlar imported from France and Canada. I think they are legit and mean the best in the industry. Thats what I know and what I found out. Modified by AGS at 1:32 AM 11/5/2005

They may actually be good seats but until they are tested and receive certification, the seats are absolutely meaningless to the racing market. Rick |

The Monte Carlo is FIA approved from what I know and the others are in the works.
I do think that they have realized that they are in need of recieving the certification and will focus on this in the weeks to come after the SEMA Show showed them so much interest in the seats. And, yeah...the Full One Piece bucket design is an awesome idea and they have made it work really well from the seats and mounting hardware I saw.

What would be valuable is if you've had your ass in these seats and been in some crashes. That is the only "Experience" that is going to matter on a non FIA-homogulated seat, and even that may not be enough. |

Why would you even think about getting these? People are caught up in the "look" of a product rather than the material quality and engineering. For that kind of money, you can get Recaro, OMP, Cobra, or Sparco (all of which have reputations, as well as some sort of involvement in motorsport).

I'm gonna bring this thread back from the dead because of all the falsified information.
#1 Status racing is based out of redmond washington and I live in puyallup washington so it is local to me. I've been through bride seats/ recaro spg's recaro srd's and recaro ctr seats in my prelude. I've sat in about 20 different buckets all the way from tenzo craps to bride zeta's, mugen's, spoon kevlars and vision kevlars and let me tell you NOT one seat feels as comfortable to sit in as the status laguna. #2 The construction of the seat is 2nd to none. You literaly just have to see it to beleive it. I will try to show you in pictures tommorow #3 The kevlar buckets have surpassed 30G load crash tests by the FIA and have gotten FIA approval january 06 #4 The seat cushion is memory foam and it's cut thinner and thicker in important sections of the seat like were your shoulder blades are its thicker. #5 For a laguna seca memory foam kevlar bucket it's 2200$. No rip off seat costs 2200$ and you get what you pay for. I'll go up to there shop tommorow and take some pictures of the seat and the shop so you can all see how ****ing bad ass Status seats are. |

We are putting the Status Imola in the AMS Evo.. I haven't been in that yet, so I can't speak for how it feels. We ran The Laguna at one point last year, and I did like it.

but they are made in china. like netami seats. and numerous others. i was at sema and saw alot of them and talked to them. they are all idiots and the seats are not quality.they are probably 250$ to make and they charge 2000$ they walked around semaand gave them away to people with nice cars to get them to install them for sema photoshoots. now all the dumb kids who see mags and pics online go, "oh wow that skyline has status seats, or that evo, or 240 has them they must be good" its just a smart marketing strategy. you can get the same seats with no logo for 1/10th less

Thats marketing though, compare 10 racers who would pay for that one seat that is FIA against a market of maybe 1000 stunnas who want the same thing and its obvious who to go after. I'm looking forward to some testing were going to do in them here shortly though.
Before you knock stuff from Taiwan you should realize that those companies are contractors which makes them far bigger than some other brands and in many cases the manufacturing lines are far supperior as a result The only seats that really irritate right now are Race-Techs. I spent a bit with them during SEMA and a coupl eother events and the quality is deffinately what I would expect for the prices they charge and I find there comments more boastfull than helpfull. |
