Default OBD0 to OBD1 Distributor Wiring

Alright, I've searched on this and contacted the people I bought the distributor off of (Distributor King) to see if they could help me but I'm still a bit lost on how to wire this up.

Basically what I'm doing is pulling the connector off the OBD1 distrib and swapping the OBD0 connector on in it's place so that I can make the whole thing very "plug-n-play" (I hope!).

My problem is the wire colors; they just aren't the same. Here is what I have:

On the new OBD1 Distributor:

1. Beige
2. Beige Blue
3. White
4. White Blue
5. Blue
6. Blue Yellow
7. Yellow Green

and I need to match these up with the B16 wiring harness that has these colors:

1. White blue
2. Orange Blue
3. Beige (?)
4. Orange
5. White
6. Blue Yellow
7. Blue Yellow (maybe Blue Green)

Please, if anyone can help me match these up I would really appreciate it. Also, for reference (and advertisement) I'm using a JKOBD conversion harness and a Phearable.net OBD1 chipped ECU. This is all going into my 89 CRX Si (B16 already all wired up).

Thank you.

dizzy king you dont go color to color email Jason(jkobd), he knows the right order, I think you just swap the orange and white though.

a rywire dizzy jumper will cure all concerns as well

Your jumper does look like it would work well... the problem is I already took the OBD1 plug off the distributor and I don't how the wiring went so I can't put it back on. (Good job! ... I know)

I'll take your advice and shoot an email to Jason. Thanks a lot.

you can always trace the wires back to the ECU.. I swapped the OBD0 connector on the harness to make it plug in play the other way but wanted to be 100% sure.. it only takes a few minutes to check.

everything that goforbroke said looks accurate. i happen to have my dizzy out of the car right now and matched all the colors up to what he said except for, blue/green to blue/green. i have a blue/green wire on my obd0 side but only have a blue wire(not blue/green) ond the obd1 side, this is wired together. also with the 2 white wires they dont look different in size to me, but how mine is wired is the wire opposite of the clip(obd0 side), is connected to the yellow/green( on the obd1 side). the white wire closest to the clip(obd0 side) is wired to the white on the obd1 side. Hope this helps!!

a way to acctually match the white wires is to peal back the harness alittle bit. the most of the wires will be together in a wrap and there will be one white wire off by itself. that white wire goes to the yel/grn

Just grab a voltmeter and trace the wires from the ECU.
The I made the obd1 diagram below a while ago, and its 100% accurate.
The obd0 diagram should be accurate also, but i just made it.
Using the below info and voltmeter, it should be very easy to get your wiring sorted out.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Alright, so far I've got this:

(format: distributor -> harness)

beige -> orange
beige blue -> orange blue
white -> white
white blue -> white blue
blue ->
blue yellow -> blue yellow
yellow green ->

For the two leftover colors I've got two choices: Something that looks like Beige but could maybe be a faded yellow and a blue yellow that may be a blue green.

Hows that sound to you?

Distributor King has got 'em listed on eBay. Go the easy route: buy a distrib from them and get the conversion harness from rywire for $30 or so. That way you don't have to post a nice thread like this one.

Benefits of OBD1: Easier to chip and tune an OBD1 ECU. That's all I'm really using it for.

Thanks civickiller, appreciate the help.

Hey solfly, nice job concentrating on what I should've done instead of helping me solve the problem. Hindsight is 20/20. If my distributor "shits the bed" then I'll have to buy a nice new one and then I can buy the jumper (like I should have to begin with) and I will have no further problems.

Thanks for your concern.

Alright, I've got it figured out thanks to all the help I got on here. This is the wiring that made my car finally start up using the Distributor King OBD1 distributor and the JKOBD conversion harness.

Format: OBD1 (Dist King) Distributor --> Engine Harness

Tan Blue --> Orange Blue
White Blue --> White Blue
Yellow Green --> Thick White
White --> Orange
Tan --> Thin White
Blue --> Blue Green
Blue Yellow --> Blue Yellow

Hope that helps anyone who bothers to do a search on this topic.
