Bored and Stroked B16 PT.2: tuning and DYNO
2nd edit: Here's a dyno vid. I know they're boring but hey, watch if you want
http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=pull215
Well I finally made it out for tuning, some of you know my buildup, some of you don't, here's a link which has a lot more detail. Other thread.
The basic setup: 1847cc 11.2ish compression, portflow head (b16), blox B cams, RMF narrow header, AEBS intake mani., maxbore 64mm TB, Password JDM CF intake, RC 310 saturated injectors, stock DX fuel pump
2.5 mandrel resonator and magnaflow.
Suprdave tuned this with NepTune. Let me say he did a hell of a job. The graph says it all. I know some of you may say it seems a little low, i agree, but i need to play with a few things before i will be able to hit my goal of 215, but for now i am very pleased. Here's the graphs.
Final Graph

Re: Bored and Stroked B16 PT.2: tuning and DYNO (rjay8604)
One thing this setup loved was the 3 degrees of advance on the intake cam. That gained pretty much 7 ft. lbs across the chart. Heat soak was also hurting us because my setup is getting really hot, like 200+ coolant temps.
Go ahead and give any suggestions.
Another annoying thing, no matter what Dave did the rev limit wouldn't raise past 9000rpm, we're still not sure what caused that.

You made damn good power. Your tuner obviously knows what he is doing. What other things are you going to play with?

Re: Bored and Stroked B16 PT.2: tuning and DYNO (goforbroke)
I really wanna try a AEM cold air instead of the Powerchamber intake, i like it, but i really think i would benefit from a CAI. Also i wanna do a insulating intake gasket like hondata or outlaw engineering. Also i think i wanna try some of Rocket's spark plugs. I <U>will</U> one day make 220whp with this setup , but i am very happy right now.

Thanks man, i agree, this is my first attempt with this setup, so there's always a lot tweaking before you can reach the full potential. Remember i never would have got to this point if it weren't for getting that code 9 fixed .

I would be stoked. You made terrific numbers, and those curves are textbook. My hat is off to yuor tuner. i'd love to see some pics and timeslips when you get them.

I have an Outlaw engineering B16 kit and will recommend it over the Hondata gasket, very complete and looks very nice. Your dyno results looks very good btw. to you and Dave

Nice numbers man! With temps like that I'm sure your intake charge would be far more dense coming from somewhere other than from under the hood. I'm interested to see what that CAI will do.

Yeah thats really exactly what i am thinking. Because my bay is damn hot, when we let it cool down a little it was 5ft. lbs across the board, so i think that gasket and CAI would really help.

i drove the car last night, its nice except for it dying at idle....
OT: the action 6 puck and fidanza are perfectly streetable and driveable...

Thanks Ross.
Note to Honda-Tech: Ross gave me the best customer service i have ever had. I highly reccommend him and tuner's choice.
