How did the Haynes manual recommend the front rotor removal on the 90-97 accord?

Rotor over Hub Conversion
My congratulations to you for the contribution you have been making on the website, no doubt elsewhere.
I am going through this process right now. Axle boots broken and warped rotor(s).
I see that if the rotor doesn't come out by tapping on the backside of the rotor as suggested then the best is to take the assy to the machine shop.
1. If the hub and bearing come off by tapping on the inboard side of the rotor, can the rotor, etc be changed without removing the entire knuckle assy?
2. Does the bearing need to installed with a press?
3. Is it best to change the bearing anyway?
4. Do you know of another year make and model that would be a correct donor as rotor over hub for this vehicle?
5. Is a larger rotor a good idea and if so does the rear rotor need to be a larger one as well?
6. What was the advantage anyway for the hub over rotor setup?
Thank you in advance,

Robert7

Awesome tool to remove the hub! Now I'm going to get me one, so I can do my ROH conversion!

Tell me I'm dumb.

I bought the offset box end wrenches to remove the 4 bolts in the back. I rented the hub puller... all it does it push the driveshaft back and nothing seperates. What am I doing wrong.. hmmm. I quit for today.. when simply jobs go bad.

Sounds like you're going about it right. The driveshaft may move back some but won't move all the way back. If you keep going it should just loosen enough to get the rotor/hub out. You can opt to remove the whole knuckle (like I did) but its way more work.

Great tutorial! But can I follow it exactly to do the same job on 1996 Accord? Also it seems to miss the step to remove the caliper frame. I replaced brake pads on my 1996 Accord LX about a month ago and since then warped rotors have developed, so I plan to replace rotors now. When I was replacing brake pads I measured rotors width and it was about 21mm - minimum allowed, so they should have been replaced anyway but I knew that replacing them on that model is pain in the ass and tried to avoid it. I've ordered Centric rotors and OE pads (don't want to use the current ones since they might be the cause of warped rotors) and plan to do the job myself on the weekend. It great the one can use the offset 12mm wrench to remove the hub as opposed to disconnecting the whole joint, otherwise I wouldn't risk doing that job myself.
