JDM D15B vtec swap into 96 civic ex D16y8
hello, i am swapping a JDM D15B (OBD1) vtec into my 96 ex(OBD2a) with P2P ecu. the d16y8 through a rod and dammaged the block. the reason i went with the d15b instead of the d16y8 was price, i couldnt find a y8 engine for under $900. and the d15b cost me $330.00 plus shipping. and if i dont like it i can always slap the y8 head on and build a mini me. the swap went very well considering this is the first time i've even worked on a front wheel drive car. but i have a few issues that maybe someone can help me with. first the D15b disrtibutor has 2 plugs and the OBD2 harness has 1 distributor plug, i know i have to repin, but can anyone tell me which wires go where? next is the knock sensor. the ecu is looking for it but the block doesnt have a place for it. can i just plug in the sensor and leave it hanging? or does anyone know where i can install it on a d15b block? last is the crank sensor( i think thats what it is) it located under the timing belt cover next to the crank pully. how important is it? the d15 block doesnt have one. sorry for such a long post, thanks for any help,.

ur gonna have to run an obd1 ecu and change all the plugs and sensors on your harness if im not mistaken, you can buy OBD2-OBD1 conversion harnesses pre made.
You cant just drop that motor as a bolt in, it runs on different electronics

ok, i figured out the repin on the distributor, it goes like this...
OBD2----------- goes to---------OBD1 plug 1-----------OBD1 plug 2
black/yellow----------------------black/yellow
blue 1 ----------------------------blue
yellow/green-----------------------------------------------yellow/green
blue 2 -----------------------------------------------------blue/green
green -------------------------------------------------------orange/blue
yellow------------------------------------------------------ orange
white --------------------------------------------------------blue/yellow
red ----------------------------------------------------------white/blue
black --------------------------------------------------------white
this set up worked on my 96 civic ex harness. hope this helps someone.

P28 or P08,
or you could "relocate" a knock sensor location
and bypass the CKF(http://ff-squad.com/wp/?p=309). You'll also either depin the distributor or get a conversion harness for OBD2-1.
