Default Non-technical Review of Ksport Coilovers and LCA (EK)

I recently picked up a set of the Ksport Coilovers and LCA from Andy at BodykitsNW. This thread isnt a shameless BodykitsNW plug, but Andy has excellent customer service and is a pleasure to do business with.

That being said, the coilovers appear to be a quality product. The components were well machined and fit together very nicely. One thing that would have been nice is if the springs were stamped or had a sticker on them to indicate what the spring rates are. The shocks have a nice combo bumpstop/dustboot which seems like a better design than my previous Tein HA and Buddy Club RSD which basically ate the dustboot away after a few thousand miles.

The LCA look identical to just about every other LCA on the market right now, only time will tell how well the bushings hold up after i get some miles on them. The LCA fit nice and snug when mounted to the subframe (UNLIKE my old Megan Racing LCA's that had lots of play and movement).

Driving impression:
I havent put these things under much stress yet, but they will see some good track mileage at the ITR expo in less than 2 weeks. As far as street driving goes they feel great. I have had the damping set to full soft and they have felt solid, but not too harsh. I'm running 11k in the front and 9k in the rear. FYI: the "36 way adjustability" is just 4 complete turns of the adjusting tool...there are no clicks as mentioned before. So far I have no complaints and I will update this as soon as I'm back from Expo5 and give a more thorough report. Hopefully I will also be able to have them sent to Lee for a shock dyno.

well here is some more non-technical feedback.

i drove 3000+ miles with an extra 500lbs of weight in the car out to expo last week...the suspension felt great on the track at full stiffness. not any excessive body roll and even felt decent on the highway with the extra weight in the car.

honestly i dont feel much of a difference between fully soft and fully stiff...could just be me.

i want to send these out to Lee at koni to have them dynoed just to get some technical data.

just as a test for myself i compressed a ksport shock and one of my buddy clubs and then let them rebound by themselves...the buddy club rebounded MUCH faster. i dont really know what this means (if anything), but regardless i plan on having both the ksports and buddy clubs dynoed.

so as of right now, i can say that they seemed to hold up fine on 3 track days plus carrying extra load on the highway for 3,000+ miles.

disclaimer: this was my FIRST track event so i probably didnt put them through as much wear and tear as a more seasoned driver would.

Nice cat, you have an orb in your picture, you have ghosts in your house! Nah, just kidding, nice shocks what would you rather heve, the lower collar for ride height adjustment, or the adjustable damping, beacause I'm looking for some coilovers for my 99 EK hatch. Been looking at Omnipower, RM, Tein Super Streets, ect.

if we can dyno, not sure why we would send to someone else. Not being smart just honest.

Would you send us a eibach damper to dyno?

It takes me all of 30 minutes to dyno a shock and you just said that you will not have any info til next week, that is why I offered.

I`ll send you a shock to dyno. No big deal....

Both of you should probably send a set of coilovers for me to independently dyno. Make it for a 2001 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS.

Yeah, that I think is the best option.
