Guess this is the official thread now. About time there's a good place for info swapping on these turbos.

I have an HX35 (non W) going onto a 1.8L 20v VW motor in the near future. Still building up the block and fabbing stuff but it should be done by mid summer if all goes well. Using the 12cm^2 housing to start but I'm probably going to track down a 14 for testing.

I got my turbo via SaulG on ebay, awesome seller and he gets them all the time. Hit him up with your needs.

What are you guys using for wastegates that have them up and running. I was going to use a Tial 38, but if any of you guys are having creep problems I would go bigger off the bat. Anyone?

I'll be running the tial 38 unless drum says he's having extreme creep issues when he gives us our update.

Yup, tial 38mm for me too, with the 11.6psi (.8 bar) spring. I'm sure it'll be ok too. And a huge to this being the official holset thread, agreed, this has been long overdue!

Looks like a nice setup, but I don't see what it has to do with holset stuff But yea, you definitly should run a gasket between the turbo and manifold. I too will be running turboedit, so be sure and let us know how that goes

i still think the hx35 is a little big for a b16...if i were you id opt to run an hx30...a more fitting turbo...like others have said they like high boost...10-12+psi is where they come alive...

And that is the exact reason that I started this thread, this is very valuable information, and I wanted more people to be able to see this. Who knows, maybe this will become another bandwagon, I hope not, but at least we'll be the ones that started it! My turbo is arriving this monday, and thats the last piece i was waiting on, hopefully I can get my charge pipes fab'd next weekend, and be up and running the weekend after that :fingerscrossed: I took some pix of my friends car and mine tonight, i'll post them in here tomorrow if anybody is interested in seeing what this setup is goin on... Again, lets keep this thread alive!

I'm most def. getting anxious to be running my 35 w/ 14cm^2 turbine housing. . . considering turning to a credit card to finish it, lol.

You know you've got the itch when you make blow off noises driving down the road in your 86 Cutlass daily driver.

Well, I don't blame you for making the BOV noises either, I'm guilty myself I'm actually thinking about making a twin scroll sidewinder manifold here in a few months and run the hx35 as a genuine twin scroll turbo as it was designed to be! It should be pretty interesting... For now i'm just concentrating on putting my hy35 setup on!

bastard stealing my ideas!!! w/ my a/w setup a nice sidewinder would work beautifully...

but got everything up and running today...uber is still loggin a/f off a little...gets a good reading then 2 off by like .7 a/f....its a little odd...thing rips...full boost 7psi by about 4 grand...still having a lil issues tuning but workin them out day by day... at least now im seeing a/f in uber still workin out 3bar bugs and the lack thereof of low boost resolution...

and btw jdavis = god of holset info...and i dont mean to be harsh or whatever...i just would like to keep this post mostly technical to holsets...and people running them...
