theirs a used car place around here that sells imports, and when you buy a car from them they through in a set of Kumho ESCTA's...I always figured they couldn't be good tires...
I had Nitto tires on my eclipse. they arn't the best or most expensive, but i liked them a lot. |

For daily street use, the 712's are GREAT tires. They handle cold rain like a champ. They are about 80% as effective as the OEM S02's. They last a long time....and in fact, that's what was on my MF10's (street-use only wheels) before the Dunlop sponsorship. BTW, if you're going Dunlop, I recommend the SP9000 in such a bad-ass way. But if you do decide to get them, hurry, I think they are ending that line-up.
On the hard runs (like what we did in Austin at S2KDays two years ago, and the Wake the Dragon tours, etc.) they aren't the best tire to have. However, if you only plan to push it 6/10ths of what you'd normally be doing, they are a fine tire. Normal speed (you know, about 20-25 miles faster than the flow of traffic), the tires grip great and let you know well in advance of what their limits of traction are. Also, since they are very predictable vs. the SO2's, they make a great tire to practice drifting....not that I'm into that sort of stuff. If you want more of an all-out street tire for great weather driving, even the S02's and S03's are the best tire. The one that fits the bill is the Toyo RA-1. I run Kuhmo 711 Ecsta's on my CL-S...215/50/17's...and their great for daily driving, not to much road noise for a wide tire, good tire tread life...but performance wise, not really all that great...i had a set of Zrated Dunlops on my car before and the handling differences was like night and day. I imagine the 712's are probobly the next performance class up, and for daily driving and just normal use, their probobly great...but performance use, i doubt it.

My friend works at a tire warehouse so he is seeing if he can hook me up with a set of Michlin Pilot sport PS2's for $800 all four hopefully
If the deal doesnt go through i will just get some 712's. It says they are a reinforced tire also.. What does this mean(nobody can give me a clear answer on it)?But yea, if i was ever to do some spirited driving, i have a brand new set of t1s on stock rims. But who needs performance on 19's?
