My motor became really noisy after installing aftermarket camshafts and springs/retainers. i also adjusted valve-lash according to the manufacturer of the cams (0.2mm cold, which is huge).
my engine sounds like world war 3 going on when it's a cold start, however, it quiets down a bit after the car is warmed up (louder than stock, but not as bad as the cold start). i'm thinking your issue could be normal as you have gone with aftermarket valvetrain as well.
