depending on the turbo size you will stay in boost longer so thats always good.

i have a b16 lsd w/ ls 5th. the gears are pretty short and i spin some in 4th on 195 street tires. When i rebuilt it I was going to put gsr 3rd and 4th gears in it but decided against it.

Longer gears = Slower acceleration

While the ls tranny may help with traction in the low gears as you will be accelerating slower, potentially allowing for my traction, there really aren't any other reasons why you would want to run one, because it will just end up making your car slower.

Was still leaking on startup last time lol. So I bought another oil pan gasket and I'll be doing the method that UltimX said, I did move it a little bit though. The turbo spools up around 4500 RPM and it has really good throttle response before that too, so I'm pretty happy about it.

X2!!!

Torque + Short Gears = Acceleration

Hence why I went with a ITR trans
Now the hard part is getting traction

you cant just follow " general " rules all the time though.

ls trans might be quicker sometimes simply because you have to shift once less.

and its easier to put down power sometimes with a longer trans.

its not quite as easy as some say it is. you know that. i never wanna shift 4 times again. that sucks. shifting=no accelerating.

I agree with shorter gears = faster times.

but

IMO over 400 hp an LS tranny will be better. Instead of trying to put power to the ground and spinning you will get traction. LS tranny is FASTER with 400hp + below that shorter is better IMO. Which is why top fuel dragster have 3 gears two long gears and one short gear.

Lets face it, you are not gunna go anywere with decent power on street tires!!! So with that said, most people look to go fast while on slicks and IMO
slicks and short gears > slicks and long gears....

i had the b16a trans for last year and switched to a hydro gsr this year. i must say i am a fan of the gsr. the b16a was awesome but quite short for the highway, the gsr is a nice compromise. i ran pretty much the exact same times with the gsr trans, slightly faster, but not by much(could have been the mfactory lsd too).

i think b16 w/a ls 5th is the way to go though, and get some good tires!
