I agree with you. The only thing that would really prove if this was truly an OEM piece or not would be the sales brochure for 95-97 DB8 Type-R and see what options are listed.
I disagree...like I said, the dealers over here don't do anything special outside of the sale, especially hire 3rd party laborors to make seats that look identical to the oem seats. Remember that there are strict inspection laws in Japan. Stuff like seats need to be able pass inspection standards so I doubt that even an over-zealous dealer would take responsibility if the seats don't pass inspection for some reason.

Secondly, there were no DB8 brochures. DC2's and DB8's were lumped into one brochure. I'm sure some people on here even have a copy of it, and it never offered red back seats...ever. And if red back seats were offered for the DB8, then why not for the DC2's as well? The answer: because they never existed! Dude stop grasping at straws and looking for reasons to authenticate those seats, because it ain't gonna happen. Selling them as OEM without proof is fraud! Get over it already!

They are not for sale any longer. Please read. There is no fraud happening; you are making a huge deal out of these when there is no reason to do so. If they're not OEM, it's okay by me because they are going in my car. All for sale threads have been edited. It's going to be ok.

I've never been scammed, but I've seen tons of people trying to pass off fakes as the real thing, and frankly it pisses me off. In this case, the seats look awesome. It does look very oem, and I think I would have been fooled too if I didn't know better.

He could have said rare red DB8 back seats. OEM look, feel and quality, but true origin unknown, and it would have been completely honest and cool and we wouldn't be having this conversation. But when he swears by them, and piled on one justification after another, my whistles blew. I am truly tired of seeing people do this.

I saw this company advertising a 3" exhaust for the DC2. In the ad it says, ships straight from Japan. I thought, "wonderful, then the shipping should be cheap since I'm already here"...so I started sending emails asking about the exhaust and it sounded like what I wanted. So I asked for a quote on shipping and he gives me this ridiculous amount that was like twice the price of the exhaust itself. I emailed back saying that I am in Japan so send it via Yamato, should only be about $20....turns out that the whole "JDM..ships from Japan" thing was completely bogus! No telling what else he was lying about so he lost my trust. I found out later that he was shipping from Canada where the exhaust is fabricated and distributed.

So yeah, I do have a feather trigger when it comes to people claiming something that they are not...I always want to see evidence or proof of authenticity, otherwise to me its fake.

Well, if you know me, you would know that I'm not the type of person to go around lying about something. I was relaying the messages and information I was given regarding the origin of these seats. I was not out to deceive anyone about them or lie about their origins. I'm not going to go as far as saying they aren't OEM because there is a lack of proof that shows they are, but that's fine if you believe that. They are good enough for me regardless.

There is enough circumstantial evidence for both viewpoints, so I decided it would be easier to just keep them and not have them for sale. This way there is no arguing about the authenticity of them, and I can enjoy them in peace. I do appreciate all your comments and insights into them, as it has made them that much more interesting to me.

There's nothing wrong with selling them. You probably can get good money for them. But tell it like it is is all I'm saying

Way in the back I saw the first batch of NSX's. This was at a time when NSX were new in Japan, and the US would get them about a year later, so I had never seen one before that.

Very conspicuously and parked only a few feet away was a red NSX with a badge on the side that read "Mugen RR" similar to the one you'd see on the uber rare FD2 Mugen RR. I asked my friend about that and he said that it was a secret project. He told me that they were developing, and was almost finished with the" NSX-R" and that the NSX Mugen RR was the successor to the NSX-R. This was before the NSX was even released in the states, and he was telling me about the Type R (which was a completely new concept). The term Type R was and unkown at the time. He didn't know what the specs of the RR was but he said that it would be a lot faster than the Type R which is a lot faster than the standard NSX. He said it may have a twin turbo.

Well, I never heard of or seen the Mugen RR NSX again after that. Not in car shows, or museums, magazines, or anywhere. I suspect that the body was just a receptacle for either the Type R motor and tranny or possibly a car that never made it out of development. Maybe it was the prototype for the JGTC race car...who knows... but it probably still exists somewhere and perhaps a Honda employee drives it.
OMG!! Out of curiosity I googled this car and I found a picture of it. It still exist!!!

Definitely an old picture. The cars in in the background are all about 15-20 years old, and mostly Honda's. The rear glass seams to be plexiglass which suggest to me that the roof intake si probably real instead of the fake ones that the put on the new NSX-RR. They weren't F'ing around when they built that car, I just wish I knew what the specs were.

Those 2 pics are epic. That's definitely "right click save" material. I'm just shocked they are still around. ^ I would also LOVE to know the actual specs as well.

u sure about that? i see a volvo thats in the late 90's range, see a first gen crv, and what potentially looks like a first gen odessey and a 2000+ mazda mpv. i think the only thing old in the pictures is the camera that was used LOL

I would estimate the mid 90 for this photo ...maybe 1997 at the latest. MPV is a mid-90's model and so are the odeseys, CRV's debuted in 1994-5 in Japan.

If you look carefully, there is late 80's prelude and a Honda Today, which you hardly ever see in Japan anymore. The Volvo looks to be a 1997 Volvo V70 Estate

Damn, we're even arguing over how old the photos's are that are posted in the thread that's had the most action/arguing in the ITR thread the last few weeks. geez! pfffffft..I bet that's not even a real NSX.
