The RL/TL are very nice cars. I also have to admit, the new Taurus is a step in the right direction for Ford. It may not be as nice as a lexus or Acura, but it is right up there with the 300c now. Road and Track put the SHO up against the EVO and it did really well against it. Read the comparison test before commenting on this.
And if you didn't want to float the bill for a RL/TL, next years TSX is getting a V6 too. But anyway, back to the CR-Z and Honda. Honda sometimes has their head up their asses. They claimed that the EP3 didn't do well in the states because "American's don't like hatchbacks." Total BS. They alienated their market! There should have been a base model of that hatch. stripped down for fuel economy for a cheaper price. AND we should have had the type-r version everyone else got. That car could have been successful. I do see the idea behind the hybrid CR-Z, but if they want the car to sell in high numbers, they need to make the different variations that the market is going to be looking for. It could be a huge hit in the tuning market. it needs to have a gas motor option!

The sedan or the hatch? The hatch was Uk built, the sedan.... I always had the impression that the TypeR sedan was built by the Japanese, and that the povo models were Thai built.

the problem with the cr-z is all the "requirements" of the average person, like a/c,ps,pw,abs, and air bags. all of these things weigh alot. thats why in 1988 the crx hf was able to get over 40 mpg, it didnt have any safety features and none of the other things people expect. it weighed less than 2k and had what 90hp? the only way auto makers can even compete with the fuel economy of the old crx is to use batteries.

The US version of the CR-Z is to be shown at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
![]() I'd think there will be some additional useful information at that time, especially wrt a final version for North American might look like with LHD. |

So I take it you and your life partner will have a matching pair of them?
The CRZ is going to be a success....its a MANS hybrid 6 speed manual trans short wheelbase/excellent handling Sporty looks Keep in mind it has a battery pack to lug around, 2010 crash standards and the IMA electric assist drivetrain...2700lbs with all that is actually pretty light if you consider the IMA/battey pack alone Will it run 13s out of the box... NO Will it get you laid... probably not I have a car that runs 13's, dont need help there. I have a steady hottie who keeps me happy, dont need help there either. What I wouldnt mind though is 50-60mpg and a 6 spd trans I can shift myself while carving some canyons for maybe 2/3s or half of my other "sports" car. I swear, stock Hondas have NEVER been 13 sec cars (save for the NSX, NSX-R 12's) so why the weight of the world on the CRZ? With a manual trans you can boost the little gas engine it has if you MUST have more power but really this car is not about outright power. Its about having FUN while getting crazy high MPG ans not having to drive a shoe box while doing it. Honestly...your are buying a hybrid... CRZ, Prius, Insight....you honestly think that our demographic would choose the Prius? Handles like garbage, looks like a rolling toaster and gives road feedback like a blind chimp. If you want a fast Honda you have tons of used chassis to buy and build. This car is for the millions more who want a "ready made" fun hybrid that doesnt make them feel like hippe tree hugger.

The CRZ will be much cheaper and get probably 50-60mpg...still very good with its hardware/safety standards. We could stip down a VX hatchback and probably get 50-60mpg but it wouldnt be near as nice to drive as a CRZ...it also woudnt cost near as much either lol...but we have to be paying customers or Honda wont make them.

Top Secret is modifying hybrids AS hybrids and getting good results. they have an insight that rips. i see a Top Secret CR-Z in the near future, hybrid intact, cutting 1:07s at Tsukuba.
IMO, just dropping a K20 in the thing is a step in the wrong direction. then, all youd have is a RSX type S, that wont be street legal. 2800 lbs wit ha K20 doesnt get my nippls hard. save that shit for EG gut buckets. apparently their motivation is the fact that R35 ISF ect owners have one of these to drive to work and back, so why not make something for both of their cars. ![]()

I heard that the idea of doing a k from the factory is still on the table. I doubt that would be the case with Honda though, I bet they'd put that tiny 1.4 from the fit in it if they did do a gas engine.

you know, rumor has it, it DOES have a gas engine, and there is an ion cell battery engine connected to it that makes it come out of the hole like a raped ape. just a rumor though.

^ kidding aside, electric motors have a ridiculous amount of potential. I predict some interesting aftermaket devices for the CR-Z.
Lets keep i mind that hybrid technology hasn't been applied on any high-production 'sporty' (6-speed!) model up until the CR-Z. |
