managed to get one more polished tonight.... 3/4!

way too much work for something i'll change later... my hands hurt.

on a side note, i checked the valve clearance and it was all with in .001-.002 spec. :D

I bumped the base timing up to 10* and it woke the engine up a little...

what rims are you looking at for replacements?

AR Libres were always a favorite with the Datsun roadster guys.

I don't think so. This requires a lot of pressure/force to clean off the grime

Ditch those redneck wheels and get some low offset panasport style wheel. I actually think rota does make a replica of them. It would be a hell of a lot cheaper than watanabes or the real deal.

Edit: Right here!

Yeah those look great!

However, these wheels have almost new tires on them. Gotta use them up.

Now that it runs good, I'm going to concentrate on fixing the car up. Suspension/brakes and cosmetic fixes first. Then maybe some sweet wheels, finally - probably a 2jzgte

well the 2jz is, but the 1jz is way cheaper and nearly as good IMO.

Really, you can't beat ~300+ whp with slick r154 trans for $2500 or so total.

I mean, how much would it cost to get 300whp out of the l28? and add a 5 speed? more than $2500 i'll tell you that. Plus they 1jz is easy to tune and make a lot more power with. Not to mention its a much more modern and reliable engine, and would get far superior fuel millage

Why not a lsx? Even a stock 5.3L would make 300whp.

been done too many times....

besides if I want 600-700 whp all i really need is fuel, a big single and tuning on a JZ series. lsx not so much.

Plus, I already have the stuff needed to do the swap minus a long block!

also just personal preference.

An I6 is proper in a 240. Personally I would do a ***** out N/A carb'd L28 but like you said, it'll never make JZ power and it'll be more expensive and finicky since you already have parts and skill with the toyota engines.

*subscribed* I'm doing a full resto on my '69 Camaro SS. It's been in my family since '74.

Pics don't work.

My 2nd car was a '78 280Z my dad restored. Fuel inj 6 cylinder, 4 speed....I loved that car. Sadly I wrecked it in my first winter of driver as a 16 yr old.

Even starting with a 5.3L truck engine? you can get those things for well under a grand and there are tons of aftermarket wiring harnesses. run it carbed and it would be even cheaper.

Can't really argue with the ease of getting huge power out of the jz, though.

Not another 1JZ swap.. You did that already, its been done before in the Z too.. Surprise the hell out of everyone and do the 4G63, you'll make a hell of a lot more power than you will with the JZ anyways.
