my only remorse in this situation is that she wasn't able to bury a few more before they got away. let her go free; she's doing society a favor.

Superficially, $1500 is not greater than a life. However, what if the victim loses their job because they cannot get to work? $1500 is a large sum of money to many people.

Most thieves do not steal as a last resort for survival. They also steal more than once. They made a decision that has risks. Increasing the risk would make the decision to become a thief less attractive.

You guys are ridiculous. She was in her 2nd floor apartment. She had a whole fking building between herself and the thieves. How is she in immediate danger?

If she really saw the group of thieves going through people's cars in the parking lot, why didn't she call the police immediately and stay inside and unnoticed? Instead she decides to watch them from her balcony with a shotgun, wait until they get to her car and then shoot at them???? What did she expect? Clearly she was trying to kill, or in the least, injure them. She made a conscious decision to escalate the occurrence into a dangerous situation.

Last time I checked, there's no where in the civilized world that theft is punishable by death, regardless of the item's value.

yeah like fukk prisons, let's just execute people. give em the choice of 00 buck vs. magnum slug!

She waited til they got to her car, then shot em? sounds like premeditation to me...could've called the cops and had em roll up in time? And, how did she not F up her own car when she shot the dude? I'm not sure what kind of barrel, what kind of choke, and what kind of load, but i can't imagine that she didn't just pepper out her own windsheild/a-pillar. self pwn.

I suppose it also would have been a pussy/snitch action for her to call the cops 15 minutes earlier, when she noticed all the OTHER cars getting robbed, right?

At some level, she made a conscious decision: "I'm in no immediate danger, and NO, I don't need to call the cops, I can kill all these fvckers myself."

All of you pro-gun, pro-anarchy, wild west morons seriously need to get your heads checked. NO, someone does not deserve death for stealing. NO, I'm not a pussy for believing that.

You equate believing that theives don't deserve death with believing that theft is not a serious crime, or that criminals don't deserve punishment. Grow a brain.

This isn't the first time this guy has stolen stuff. He has been to prison before and that obviously did not work.
If more people were worried about getting shot for stealing stuff then I can guarantee you that the theft rate would go down.
Money says that lady won't have any more problems with theft in her apartment ever again.

they might just shoot her before they rob her ass.

look, i know stuff is cool. we work hard for our stuff. people stealing our stuff sucks. but stuff can be replaced (especially with insurance). can lives? regardless of whether you think the life is worth saving, that's not a determination one person has the power to make. there's a reason why some crimes are capital crimes. Theft is not one of them.

you guys all sound like small time crooks "i'll teach those bastards to steal from me!!!!~~1!"

and before people call me a gunhating pussy, i own 2 guns--.45 and a 12 gauge. if someone is robbing my house and leaving my family alone, they can take the TV, they can take the stereo, hell they can even take the bikes if they leave my family alone.

but if they become a threat, they're getting pumped full of .45 ACP JHP and #4 buck.

this shit happens every day in houston.. it was probably some ghetto ass apartment complex with a bunch of low life wannabe gangsters. why are people always so quick to defend criminals? they knew what they were doing and got what they deserved

If I ever become a thief I'll be sure to come peacefully steal everything you own because you will let me. And as I'm peacefully walking out the door with the tv, I could shoot you because you thought that I was not a threat to begin with. You let down your guard because I was not an immediate threat, I did not have a gun drawn on you. I'm just peacefully taking all the things you worked hard to pay for.
Thanks!

Criminals have more rights than law abiding citizens these days. Look at what is happening in Britain.

The article states that the group was robbing the other cars in the lot, and that she fired her shotgun once they moved onto her car. It could have been 15 minutes, it could have been 4. It was enough time for her to grab her gun, and sit out on her balcony, waiting for the gang to approach her car, and then shooting, without giving any sort of warning whatsoever.

Notably, it doesn't say that the lady called the cops after this happened.

You guys are ridiculous.
