2 questions so go easy on me people: i have a 92 lude

1) i have go an ebay CAI and was wondering if anyone has pics on how to install the easy way ...?

2) also it says is carb aproved on the box but had no sticker or nothing for proof, so can i print this chart and use it against a cop in california if one pulled me over.. please help... ? heres the link

its number D-533 (first row down, column 17 across), sounds confusing but can i use this as proof that my intake is CARB legal

You're going to have to make the hole going into the fender well bigger, ether by using a hammer or cutting. I also had to make a bracket to make the CAI bolt to the car. I have a Bomz CAI.

make the hole bigger? not correct. the piping should line up with the hole just fine. The filter is what will cause fitting problems. If the filter wont fit on your piping, then i'd reccomend getting one that does. (a narrower filter) I have an AEM and it works just fine. side note: i know this is true because i also cut the hole to fit the larger filter when i first installed. Then, i realized all i had to do was get a different shaped filter.

Ebay CAI's are typically 3" in diameter, which is bigger than the hole going into the fender well on the 4th gen Preludes. So yes, I am correct and speak from experience.

so i just have to disconnect like one hose and take out the resinator and try to fit the tube through the whole n thats it no other major parts to connect?

also any advice for my C.A.R.B question?

Dude, it's really easy to install. Search for some CAI installs. If it does't have the CARB stamp on it, I'd assume it's not exempt but I'm not an expert on those matters.

ok double d, i may be wrong. sorry, i have never dealt with a ebay CAI. however, if my memory serves me correct, the hole is bigger than 3in. I could be wrong. i will look myself when i get off work. Now dont get all pissy, im not saying your wrong. i just want to check myself since you pointed that out.

All name brank CAI's for the 4th gen are smaller than 3" for this reason. My speculation is that this is why people gain little from intakes. The short ram is 3" diameter but is just to short. The CAI is longer but is smaller than 3" diameter. So really it's a no win situation. With a a 3" diameter CAI, gain's are actually made.

its not that useful using this when i ask questions on forums i get answers from people who dnt have lives and like to argue with other peoples replys and just takeup space so they can get there rank high replying as much crap as they can but thanks to u that did help me on this question.....

Op re: the cai. Regardless of what brand your using i would recommend widening the hole
the cai goes through into the fender well. I have a aem cai fitted and it fit through the hole but after a couple of months it started to rub, obviously with the movement of the engine and the car. So i widened it and no prob since. I have also seen someone post up a pic of theirs which had a slash cut worn into the cai piping from the metal edge on the hole. As for the install, just take your time with it, its very easy.

point blank just like everyone else said you need to open up the hole. don't want to? get a short ram. the rest should be a pretty basic bolt on. never be afriad to tinker around under there, you've gotta learn something somehow

my cold air intake only has a hole for one hose i was wondering if i install it will it mess up my engine if this hose isnt installed

ok the red arrow has a hole on my new cold air intake but yellow arrow has no hole on my new one do i need to make a hole?

Cap it off. That is the air bypass valve. OEM intakes have it to let more air into the plennum. After market intakes (most) dont use it.

go to your local auto parts store - just tell them you need the little rubber cap offs - you can buy a varitey size pack for like $3

alright last thing ..... if i take out the resonator and i make the hole bigger and lets say i need to put the stock intake in for sum reason will i be able to or will it not work bcuz of a bigger hole?

Yes, you will be able to put the OEM intake back on in future if you want to.

x2 ^ all that resonator thing does is make your intake quiet lol and in the biz of modding cars usually the louder it is the better! (imo)
