several people have crashed with the S2000 and RSX airbags where the airbags did deploy. As long as the sensor fires, i don't see why the bag wouldn't deploy. But then again the airbags aren't designed for the car, so I can't say it'll be as effective as honda intended them to be.

Good to hear. I would expect them to be very similar due to cabin size of the s2000 and preludes. They are just front airbags, nothing to crazy. Something is better than nothing. I have seen to many friends crash in the last few years and end up with huge bruises, bashing their heads on their aftermarket wheels, dashes amoung other things to still make me want to run an aftermarket wheel without an airbag. I don't really like the look of stock but there are options that are oem

I would think you could run a different airbag from another car. Technically, the airbag is a big resistor. The system detects an airbag and think one is there by checking for resistance. If there is no resistance, the srs light comes on.
You can always fool the system by wiring in a 2.2 ohm resistor to complete the circuit. That's what I did when my srs light came on. Then I reset the srs through the mes connector.

That's what i figured. I just was not sure if they made differences in the resistors. It wouldn't make sense to but you never know.

I searched around and looks like 2.2 ohm is what everyone else is using also.

I have a related question. I have a JDM Type S wheel in my 5th gen. If I were to get in an accident and the airbag deploys could I install an S2000 (AP1 2000-03) airbag in it's place? Because it will be NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE to get another Type S airbag without having to pay an arm and a leg for an entire wheel?
