I'm not sure how I "fail" when I directly said that I don't know a lot about superchargers but it was the best explanation I could give explaining it.. But I'm sure you know more about "fail" than I do so I'll let you be the leading authority on it..

A blow off valve cannot be used in a Cobalt SS Supercharged since it is a postive displacement roots style blower. It has no charge piping and is directly installed onto the intake manifold which also has an internal luminova aftercooler setup in it. In order to maintain boost and/or allow the blower to spin freely at idle or crusing a bypass valve is needed to redirect airflow away from the screws before it gets to them. Thus, no BOV can be used. A bypass valve and a BOV are different as well, just in case we need to go there.

If you look at my car, just to the right of the "Ecotec Supercharged" injector cover you will see the black bypass actuator. The valve is inside the bottom side of the blower and redirects into the intake manifold instead of going into the screws.
not sure if it is a good thing to admit to having had the fastest cobalt in the area or not, lol, I have never messed with a cobalt, didnt know what set-up they use. I know that roots type superchargers generally use a bypass valve. a BOV and a bypass valve provide basically the same function, but the bypass valve is designed to open at a much lower vacuum, 4-5 inches normally, and most BOV open higher, around 10 to 11 or so. But they still are very similar and some bypass valves look identical to a BOV.

And yes, SlowHitEj1, superchargers do develope compressor surge as well. And there is a built b16 civic coupe sitting in my driveway with a vortech supercharger and bypass valve under the hood

I need to go through my old computer and find pics of a project I did in FL. Eaton roots blower (with bypass valve lol) on a 3.6L built swap in a 993 Porsche Cab, not mounted directly to the manifold, for clearance and to utilize an intercooler drawing air from the rear deck.

I was just making sure you saw the talk about the engine running "backwards" when he shifted into reverse, hilarious, Epic Fail!!

Good lord!!! Holy **** yall get off on someone being wrong I swear! My bad y'all superchargers develop compressor surge I didn't know that.. You're smart I'm dumb you're right I'm wrong... I said I didn't know that much about superchargers.. That's what most people call a disclaimer.. Meaning I know that some information may not be correct but I'm doing what I can to explain it the way I understand it.. Told you I'm a turbo guy, and I've got a Built vitara d16 with a holset turbo and a blowoff valve under the hood sitting in my driveway..

Oh and it's slow white ej1 lol.. Everyone always thinks it's slow hit ej1 cuz I double use the letters hahaha

no hard feelings guys I don't mind learning and I'll teach what I know (and obviously what I don't lol) yall are just harsh on people when they ain't 100% correct lol

Well, for me long before Hondas/Acura's came into the picture, I was a domestic sport compact guy. For me it was indeed a title to be had as most people still to this day recognize my as "Billy Cobalt." Anyhow if you want to see a video of it in action whopping some ass, check it out here:

nope, I don't know what it is still. Changed out the top half of the solenoid and still nothing. Wiring looks fine. I wonder if it's oil pressure. I don't have any oil leaks though

Alot of things can affect vtec from not engaging. First i suggest checking to be sure all the pins in the plugs are staying put and not backing out when plugging up. Check at solenoid and computer.

Did you check the vtec oil pressure switch? right next to the solenoid, if it is not functioning, no vtec.

I assume you know the screen at the solenoid is good and clean also?

Any check engine light codes? if it is going into limp mode (wont go over about 5000rpm i think), then vtec wont engage, TPS code will cause no vtec, common

VSS/Speedometer problems will cause it to not engage, speedo working?

Tachometer working? Is the ECU getting a tach reference signal? this will cause not vtec also.

Temp gauge working? Temp needs to be up to a certain level and below a certain level for vtec to engage. If the ECU thinks it is colder or hotter than this range, then no vtec

and just because you dont have oil leaks doesnt mean you have good oil pressure. make sure it is full, not overfilled, and clean. Oil pump and obstructions in oil passages, pick-up, etc can cause low oil pressure

The pressure switch works because I can still get VTEC in first and second gear at random. Tach, speedo, works. Oil level is fine. I just last week changed the oil, cleaned the solenoid and screens. I don't want to drop the oil pan but I just might to clean it out and see if that does anything. I've checked the wiring at the ECU and I checked the pins and they don't seem to be loose. I was thinking about rewiring VTEC altogether and see if that does anything. I'm getting code 21 every time it malfunctions. It has worked great some days and others it throws the code and doesn't want to give me anything. I wish I could let someone ride in it to see how it sounds. It'll go in and out of VTEC all in one pull in the same gear. It's weird.

Cool vid, would like to see some of the teggy. I rode by K-mart on the way home from the Boone Hall Corn Maze (gay) I seen the green teg out there with some others, By the time I went home and back to meet my crew at the IcePalace and came back you guys were gone. I'm in the black integra with spec II.

Can someone please tell me the purpose of putting a K series sticker on a brand new 09 Civic Si bone stock? I'm thinking to myself that motherf**ker better have a k series for the money you paid for it.

Brandon, I got your text about the vtec, do you have a knock sensor?

Thanks MrGurley, like I said we all came back out but the only people there were some hondas parked out by the road not a very talkative crowd.. hah

What did you get now?

grkblood13, I turned into the gas station and waited, they got tickets for racing on public road, the cop didn't clock them all he did was hear them and maybe see them out of his rear view mirror, if they broke the speed limit (45) it wasn't by much. So they have a court date, not sure how that will stand in court, maybe MrGurley can chime in?
