Do you own a 1986 Honda?
If so, I really need some information from you.
Model/Trim level
Market (JDM, CDM, USDM, UKDM, EuDM, AuDM, SADM, etc)
First 10 characters of VIN
Engine code
Transmission code (if MT)
This is for my EXTENSIVE research charts. Unfortunately, I have accurate data from 1973-1985, then 1987-2010. I just have a gap with 1986.

Re: Do you own a 1986 Honda?
The first 10 characters of the VIN contain nothing specific to YOUR car. It just tells where it was made, what kind it is, what kind of transmission it has, how many doors, etc. The last 6 characters of the VIN contain the only data specific to your car, the serial number.
If you'd like more information about the purpose of this, just search for the threads I've created. If you still think it sounds fishy, that's just leftover odor from your rendevous last night.
Here, read this. It might help you:

I own a couple..
Both are 1986 Honda Civic Si Info is the same for both
Market: USDM
VIN: JHMAH5339G
Engine: EW4
Tranny: GW
E-AT_me's info should be the same. Unless he decides to use the engine/tranny codes for what is currently in his car.

To give you an even better idea of what I'm doing, here's what I've been working on for about the last month or so.
I have another 75 pages that I'll be posting up. I'm almost done but I saved Civics for last. That damn car spans 3 ****ing letters in the alphabet, something like 150 different chassis codes, with 8 different trim levels per code.

That list is nothing, you should see the other 75 pages. Anyway, Helm's simply says "catalyst", which typically means catalytic converter, but who knows.

Re: Do you own a 1986 Honda?
Most of that info is already covered on "red pepper racing" (remove the spaces and add ".com")
But all of those AH, AF, AK, AG and so on chassis codes for the Civic/CRXs ended in 1986. In 1987 they got the EC1, EC2, EC6, EY1 and such. The cars didn't change between 1986-1987, just how they were identified.
