thanks for the reply, but i was looking for the diameter of the coupler part (where the retaining ring snaps into.) l need to know the max diameter. i'm working in a tight space, and hope these will fit.

so it looks to me like the metal ring clips into the outer sleeve to keep it together?

since we received our first order i have used atleast 1 on every set of charge pipes i have done, and used one on my own personal car.

once more people start using these and see how nice they are, i am sure you will start seeing them everywhere. no complaints at all.

whats wrong ? you dont have 3 hands to hold the downpipe, hold the v band, and tighten the nut all at the same time

I wonder what would happen if you put some 1/4"copper O-rings in there? I'm sure Niobium would hold up, but it's kind of hard, Tantalum would work the best it's soft but very expensive, copper is cheaper.

Any buddy else have a thought's ? what about you engineers out there?

I learned how to do that back in my Air Force days. Jet engines and aircraft use lots of V bands. You hold the lock nut in you lips till your ready to put it on. It works well, and you use your foot to hold the pipe up.

after going to hargetts website and seeing how they produce items for Porsche, im surprised they didn't try to adapt Porsche's metal "o-ring" gaskets.

Porsche cuts grooves in the parts, metal o rings, then bolts together. This is done for the turbo to header as well as downpipe to turbine housing. make a clamp that relies on the metal o-ring seal as opposed to the rubber o ring. the metal o-rings are not a pita to use even w. a bolt together system--as a little bit of grease keeps the o-ring in place as you bolt it up.
