Default My new turbo manifold setup... (56K...bad)

We'll I've designed a new turbo manifold, that I will be replacing my top mount with. I'll be swaping it out and adding a 3" DP, and a Vband Tial exhaust housing to my SC61. I'll also be adding some cams (not sure which ones) and be shooting for 400whp this spring...still on my stock block B16.

The background on this manifold: Well it was originally intended for the sole purpose for the EF chassis, but after building it, I realized that it's just a tad bit larger than what I planned. It should fit perfectly in an EG, but it has some hood clearance issues in my CRX. Even with my VIS SIR hood, it pushes the hood up about 1". I think I will be redoing this manifold with the smaller radius els for the 1st and 2nd runners to fit the EF chassis. I am still going to use my full-race radiator, but remove the lower radiator support entirely, to get it to fit between the traction bar, and IC.

Let me know what you think.

Thats pretty nuts man good work...is it equal length?

Also looks like you might have a tough time getting to the dip stick

It's not equal length, but from what I have seen thus far, theres not really a huge gain or loss from being equal. Spool also doesn't seem to change much at all either.

It is kinda hard to get to the dipstick though. I definetly won't be reaching my hand down in there until the motors cooled off.

Thanks guys! My buddy will also be running this manifold on his stock block LS/VTEC setup. His turbo is the one pictured (T3/67) and should make well over 400whp on E85 .

I will also be fabbing up a bracing kit to go along with these manifolds, which will support the turbo off the block (F1 style with a heim link). That way I don't have to worry about bracing the manifold itself and worry about cracking due to expansion/contraction.

But it looks like the tial V band housings are only for the GT variations () so I don't think I'll be running one of these. That is unless I can somehow get my hands on a GT turbo. I would absolutely love to swap out for a GT30R, but they are so damn expensive.

That's a cool mani design. It seems like on the #1 cylinder, you could have swooped the pipe at an angle, instead of doing 2 almost-90 degree bends and then going straight. Just my $.02. Still looks good. Nice work.

I'm not really sure what you mean by swooped the pipe, but theres not much room at all to angle the straight peice down. I also don't like cutting the bends at an angle that is different from their radius...hence what it is. What I will be doing with the next manifold though, is angling the #1-#3 runners back about 1.5" towards the head, which should give me enough room to clear the hood. I'll have to add some heat reflectant to the hood, but other than that it should work just peachy.

original design it looks like if you used the short radius 90's on both the runnners close to the hood you would gain a lot more clearance. i am not sure what effect that would have on flow, but it might be worth checking out.

looks good as always dude.

Thanks man! Yeah, I actually mentioned that in the first post. I have some small 90's I could try out too, but I would like to try anything I can to keep the larger radius in there. For one they are damn expensive, and I'm also sure the runner would probubly flow more efficently with the larger radius. But...if it comes to that, I'm sure they will work just fine.

I definetly will. Stay tuned.

It is, but honestly it's not harder to get at than a typical ramhorn manifold. I definetly wouldn't try reaching in there when the manifold is hot though.
