You should post up some after-install pics when you get there

Those inline 6's are slow as hell but when in the dirt it doesn't really matter! as long as you got the torque....
what are you guys going to doing with this setup! hill climbing or something?

He's not sure what turbo he's going with yet, but it will be interesting to see how it spools a small T3. The 4.0L's have a very flat power band, and die right around 5K, so it will be interesting. His setup will basiclly determine whether or not I go with a T3 or T4 hotside. Quote:
Theres no real goal with the setup. It's just to have more power with large 33+" tires, and have some fun on the street at the same time.

Haha, no topmount?? lol j/k. Looks dang good. The outcome should definately be interesting.
The new jeep cherokees are going to be freakin nuts. They are coming stock with Twin Turbo'd Hemi's. 0-60 in 3.1 sec... (car and driver mag.)

Those inline 6's are not slow as hell. Faster then a 280z.
They put out good power and scoot like a muthereffer for being in a suv.... Now they arent like the new 2007 v6's puttin out 270hp, but they are still quick. |

Bryson, why not go the 505 route? It would be so much easier.

No holes in the flange for mounting...how come?
My other question is, how come you never just run everything on a wire wheel before welding. I know it doesn't make a difference, but I just like stuff to have a little blingy when it's done....makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Good work though...funny thing is I am buying a Cherokee on Monday. Might end up needing one of those flanges...lol. I personally would probably go with a custom mounted M60 though. Seems to make more sense for a truck that needs some low end grunt.

i got an 87 cherokee with the 4.0. i wouldent say its slow as heell, has alot more punch than my 4.3 vortec s10. regardless, it needs a new rear main seal cuz it leakes like a mother.
you can call that manifold logzilla

Thanks guys! BTW, thanks Rich for putting the short 2.5" 90's up on the site. These new honda manifolds are going to be great. I'll have some more info posted up in a couple weeks

The 4.0L has the intake manifold on the same side as the exhaust, and both manifolds are clamped down using the same bolts. It uses large cone washers to clamp the tips of the flange. But like I said...I always prep the manifold, and I always use a wire wheel! lol. I don't know why you guys don't think I do. ![]() But honestly, I'm thinking a decently sized T3/T4 will spool up great on this motor. Put a GT30R on there, and I don't think you'd be able to tell the difference between a SC'd 4.0 and this. I might end up going with a P trim T4 though to keep a decent gas mileage by staying out of boost in low rpms. It will stay my DD, and even now at modest 20mpg it kills me.

I just mentioned wire wheeling the pipe because of the writing still visible. I see though you said this one is getting coated, so makes sense not to prep them entirely.
I recalled seeing another mani of your with the print still on the pipe....guess I just assumed all your stuff was that way. Still looks good though You've gotten alot better over the past 8 or 9 months.

what do jeep guys do for engine management on light boost?
i've seen a few full standalone setups on a couple of wild jeeps at the dunes, thats about all though.. thats gonna be sweet

It's hard to say what most guys use right now, considering there are VERY few of these setups out there. However, we've found the splitsecond FTC1 unit works fairly well. It's a piggy back unit, that works kinda like a standalone when your in boost. The stock ECU basicly has no idea anything is different, so it drives pretty much like stock. It also has real time data logging, and table tracing which makes it just as easy to tune as a standalone.
Most Jeep guys right now go with M90 SC setups. They work well, but I really think more of these guys will start to go turbo, when they see the power these things can make, especially for far less $ than most of the SC systems on the market.
