No CEL, but you get what you pay for when it comes to intakes. The filters on the ebay generic intakes are complete pieces of crap. Might as well run a pair of panty hose over your throttle body.

Now, you could get a generic one and use just the pipe/clamps and then go buy a K&N filter, but by that time you've almost spent as much as you would have on a real AEM.

pretty much any exhaust with a resonator and silencer will be "quiet" unless you open the throttle too much..

but just cruising its not really too loud.

RSR ex-mag exhausts are pretty quiet.. and greddy sp2 IMO

For intakes, get the ebay cold air and an AEM filter...worked great for me same design and everything as the actual AEM system. Just watch out cause the lower pipe might rub the battery tray a bit

For exhaust go with the GReddy Ti-C system.

will the silencer cut down on performance at all?

if anyone wants to know..
i have an ebay intake, its short ram because i couldnt get the other peice to work, but it still works fine. no engine problems or anything on that.
the intake doesnt really add horsepower, it just makes it sound like your going faster, its an attractive noise i must say though. i paid $40 for mine, and it works good, just make sure to have a manual that shows you how to do it. its very easy to install

Think about that question for a second. Scion TC versus Honda Civic. They're not one in the same.

Default intake question

heres my question. on my 05 Vp civic most intakes come up and over and sit right next to the engine. a lot of people tell me thats really only hurting me by sucking in hot air from around the engine. so does anyone have an intake that comes down under the fender/ front bumper and have any problems? ya know with water getting in or anything like that? o and also all the plastic linning under my engine bay, do we really need all that? bc i see alot of civics w out the linning and to me that makes sence bc its just blocking in air flow. thanks

The ones that sit right next to ur engine is wat u call short ram intakes. The one ur looking for are called cold air intakes that go below the battery tray. I've had mine on for a while now and when it rains it kindof sucks. I've hit huge water puddles but never have had a problem with the engine. Not sure bout the plastic lining, thats probably what has saved me from getting water in the intake. Hope this helps u.

I say be original since it will not show much gains. Or be different get a Whale dick intake like I did, or do the Arc box like Hondakorn. Either way not really gaining much since the D17A's TB is crap.
