Lowered EJ6, EJ8, and EM1 Coupes
I want to lower my 97 coupe onto lowering springs, but I'm not sure how low to go. Could people please post pics of their lowered EK coupes and specify what the drops are so that I can get an idea of how low I want mine to be. Thanks

Re: Lowered EK Coupes
I believe EK mainly count as an hatchback while EJ count for Sedan and Coupe. But, I don't know I just call all the 6th gen civics EKs tbh. Even tho my VIN says EJ8...

Re: Lowered EK Coupes
EJ6 is sedan. As for the lowering, go with adjustable coilovers or coil sleeves and good shocks definitely. Sucks being stuck at one height all the time. Go low for some pics and raise it back up to drive.

Re: Lowered EK Coupes
both wrong. EJ6 is a DX or LX 6th gen coupe/sedan equipped with the d16y7. EJ8 is the EX trim 6th gen coupe/sedan with the d16y8. Furthermore you will not find a SINGLE United States origin 6th generation hatchback legitimately vin'd EK to any degree. no ek9's, no ek4's...not one. they are all EJ6's. I used to be naive in my terminology, until i became more on the help side of things rather than the learning, it just makes things a pain in the ***.

Re: Lowered EK Coupes
besides the fact, im pretty sure that everyone on here knew what he was talking about... apparently some people want to be **** about it. I'm also willing to bet that pretty much everyone with a 96 00 civic refers to it as an EK just for the simple fact that when you say EK everyone knows what body you're talking about. Not talking about you 98civcdx.
To the OP, definitely go with coilovers, preferably coilover system with shock/coilover as one. You'll definitely get the best ride quality out of this and wont be disappointed in the money spent. GL to ya

Oh geez... not another one of these threads.
I'd highly suggest you read / post in the Appearance/Cosmetic section. I wouldn't be surprised if they already have a thread like this, and if not, it would definitely be helpful to be able to match photos with set ups.
You might want to ask for a photo (from the side on flat ground preferred?), then the wheel size, tire size and suspension set up.
"EK" is a term used in the Honda scene (such as this site) to denote a 1996-2000 Honda Civic (in general), a 1996-2000 Honda Civic hatch or a 1996-200 Honda Civic sedan.
In reality the only Civic chassis that are true EKs are hatches and sedans overseas. No EK chassis was originally sold in the US.
Yes, a coupe is a two door (generally speaking). About 98% of the time someone says "coupe", they mean "two-door". There are specifics about B-pillars and such that can make a two door car a coupe or sedan, but it's generally making things more difficult than the average person would understand in normal conversation.
Not quite.
Chassis codes usually denote the year range, engine and body of a vehicle or a combination of those.
The full list (for the US):
EJ6 (1.6L SOHC non-VTEC - D16Y7)
'96-'00 CX hatch
'96-'00 DX coupe
'96-'00 DX hatch
'96-'00 DX sedan
'99-'00 DX-V sedan
'96-'00 LX sedan
EJ7 (1.6L SOHC VTEC-E - D16Y5)
'96-'00 HX coupe
EJ8 (1.6L SOHC VTEC - D16Y8)
'96-'00 EX coupe
'96-'00 EX sedan
EM1 (1.6L DOHC VTEC - B16A2)
'99-'00 Si coupe
EN1 (1.6L SOHC VTEC CNG - D16B5)
'98-'00 GX sedan
EKs are hatches and sedans. I could get more into that, but it's posted repeatedly by myself and others on this site already.
As far as it being easier to type "EK" instead of "96-00 Civic" or "sixth gen Civic", you can always just type "6G" like I often do. Quick, to the point, and still correct.
Thread cliffs:
OP: "A little help here?"
Random Reply: (picks apart terminology)
Other Reply: "This is how it is."
Another Reply: "No, that's wrong. This is how it is."
Still Another Reply: "This is all stupid. No one cares. This is why I'm posting right now. I care that little."

how many threads have you seen asking "what can i do to make my EG faster?!"
NOW, because we've got a thread made by someone with their head up their *** the thread gets stuck at the top of the forum while everyone has to ask "WHAT YEAR? WHAT MOTOR IS IN YOUR CAR?" etc.. i mean you got a true EG6 then i wouldnt recommend a swap right? or you got an EG8 civic sedan so maybe i would recommend eligible motors to swap, or maybe you've got a real EG9 and you're starting off with a b16 already! but hey if you got an EG1 maybe you wanna go SOHC turbo!.......you see what i mean, help US help YOU and it starts by not being a ****ing dumbass.
