About Me

  • About thawley
    Location
    Orange County, CA
    Interests
Motor journalist and photographer John Thawley has worked with the gamut of car types throughout his career. Covering everything from Corvettes and US domestics to imports, trucks and racecars, John relishes the variety in his rolling subject matter. Over the years, Thawley's work has lead to a number first person articles highlighting his experiences behind the wheel. After several driving schools, numerous sports car and vintage races, John considers himself a cautious amateur. Since 1978 he has been racing at the Bonneville Salt Flats. In 2002, John became the first to break 200mph in a Honda Civic.

A graduate of Art Center College of Design, John also teaches several photography courses at Santa Monica College. Thawley lives in Santa Ana, California with his wife, 6 year old daughter, a brown dog and three cats.
