Aftermarket Sound Systems

For the Honda Accord or Civic, you have four main aftermarket sound system options from which to choose: In-dash stereos, speakers, amplifiers, and subwoofers. Each system performs and achieves a specific set of functions. An in-dash stereo (also known as a head unit), for instance, offers quality and functionality, but does not allow for the tonal adjustments that one would find in an updated aftermarket speaker system.

While speakers deliver volume, the quality is best improved through the use of an amplifier. An amplifier is an electronic device that increases the power of your car's audio signal. However, for the speaker and amplifier to deliver optimum performance, the speaker must be able to accommodate the power that comes out of the amplifier.

A subwoofer is a type of speaker that achieves very low bass frequencies, and is an effective replacement for factory model in-dash systems that are bass-shy.
