So, recently rebuilt my Dad's home desktop and upgraded from XP MCE to Windows 7 Professional. Did a clean install and it went without an issue. Even the driver's were found

It was a custom rig with following specs:
- AMD X2 4400+
- 4GB Gskill DDR memory
- 2 500GB Seagate drives
- Nvidia 7800GT
- ABit AN8-Ultra

Problem:

And I was using integrated gigabit ethernet. So all goes well then randomly after I had installed some applications I rebooted and the network interface had an error on it in the corner (yellow hazard sign) and said it failed to load the driver's. After playing with it for awhile it would then sometimes have the red X over it too.

I figured it was a driver issue (it's an old mobo) I went out and purchased a Netgear gigabit pci card that stated compatible with Win 7 installed it and all looked good. Rebooted and had the EXACT same symptoms.

Solution:

While I'm not sure why it causes it, after some Googling it seems the mDNSReponder which is related to Apple's Bonjour service causes all these issues. It was automatically installed as part of the iTunes/Quicktime loader.

Figured I would pass this along to HT users that might be having the same issue.

Okay, now one of these two is supposed to be the big dog, and they both suck for various reasons. Bought the Itouch a couple weeks back, took it back the next day. Got the Zune HD this morning, and its going back.

iTouch = itunes

Zune HD = no external speakers. No youtube.

I like everything else about the Zune other than the speaker. But I dont like to watch videos with headphones. Plus I heard it cant do Youtube?

My Windows Mobile PPC phone is way better than either of them, for playing music/vids except battery life is waaaay too low, and it only use miniusb headphones.

I need the ULTIMATE player. What is it?

I tried DivX but that just kills the quality like you wouldn't believe. I have adobe master collection CS4 and i used the media encoder, it converted it to an adobe flash file and kept the res. but when i went into the adobe flash program i couldn't get anything done. Anyone know of any other programs i could use that will keep my high res.

Currently have Motorola SURFboard SB5120 Cable modem. I think it's dying. HT.com recommended this 2 years ago.

Also using Netgear wireless router.

Should I replace it with the same thing or try something else? Might as well replace the wireless router too at the same time?

Recommendations.

How do I use my internet?

What's connected to my (comcast) cable internet? PC, wireless laptop. Wi-Fi for iTouch, Vonage Voip phone. No hard core DL or on-line games. I can wait due to speed. Reliability is priority.

*will buy during B-Friday*

http://it.slashdot.org/story/09/11/1...ro-Day-Exploit

xploraiswakco writes with the first Microsoft-confirmed Windows 7 zero-day vulnerability, with a demonstration exploit publicly available. The problem is in SMBv2 and SMBv1 and affects Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, but not Vista, XP, or Windows Server 2003.

A maliciously crafted URI could hard-crash affected machines beyond any remedy besides pushing the white button. "Microsoft said it may patch the problem, but didn't spell out a timetable or commit to an out-of-cycle update before the next regularly-scheduled Patch Tuesday of December 8. Instead, the company suggested users block TCP ports 139 and 445 at the firewall."

Reader xploraiswakco adds, "As important as this the mentioned article is, it should also be pointed out that any IT staff worth their pay packet should already have port 139 blocked at the firewall, and probably port 445, too."

So I want to download a free program to hide my ip adress. Mainly for the purpose of downloading torrents... and not getting a letter from my internet provider. But i was wondering is any program that hides your ip address sufficient or does it need to be specifically for hiding torrent traffic. Also if any one has any good suggestions of what program to use that would be appreciated, everything I have tried in the past was painfully slow. Sorry if this had been covered previously i tried searching and came up with nothing.

I use AutoCAD 2008 for school and my instructor gave me a ripped version, which had the crack but I never set it up right. So it was running on the 30 day trial version and now its too late to crack it. He told me to completely remove it and reinstall it but neither me nor him had luck at doing this. When you try to set it up it says "AutoCAD is already installed" I have went into the registry and deleted all of the AutoDeck files also. I don't know what else to do. My instructor says to wipe it but, its my work computer and my boss says there is some stuff on here that we need. I don't know what for because we only use this computer for internet basically. What do I do besides buy another computer for my house, which I don't have the money for right now..??
Is there a device that I can plug my cell phone into and use the my home cordless phones when I'm at home?
Imagine if I could dock my cell phone into a iHome-like device and plug a standard home phone to it. So I can call and pick up like a regular land-line but it's really using my cell phone.
