This is the story of my 1980 Civic (2g) turbo gsr swap. I'm also chronicling this build on www.1stgencivic.com
All work is done by me.

After driving an '89 CRX for 8 years which can be found in some old threads here, I moved on to a '94 Civic EX Coupe. I swapped the motor for a GSR setup and then turbocharged it. It was pretty fast, but just did not handle anything near to what the CRX would do IMO. It was more of a cruise missle.

Well, I eventually came across this beaut from my boss for replacing a head gasket on his G60 Corrado.

I had those 16" Enkeis laying around and they seemed to fit the car so well I just had to 'buy' it.
Only after having taken delivery on the car did I find out that it actually already had a 1981 Accord engine and trans swap. It was suprisingly quick and very reminiscent of the handling of my CRX, vs the sluggish boat feeling of my 94. Unfortunately, the trans was shoddy and I couldn't take it in 5th gear due to the bad bearings.

Well, I wanted to drive this thing, and I was tired of my 94 that was damaged from end to end. So, what else but to perform a heart transplant, right?!!

Honda CRX 86 Rear defogger keeps blowing fuse in my relay switch... what's possible? is it a bad relay switch? I've rated the terminal's voltage at about ~12 volts but it keeps burning out my 20amp fuse, I'm not sure if it's a relay problem or the wiring problem... On side note the connectors are fine that connects to the rear window's grid.. any ideas how I can keep the fuse from blowing and not "cheat the fuse by going more than 20 amps as it's supposed to be"? :o

Alright i got this 86 civic si that lately i cant figure out this chargine light issue. My battery light on the dash keeps going on and off. Sometimes under 3k or 4k rpm the light will stay off but as soon as it goes under those rpms the light comes back on and im sure its not charging the battery when the light is on as i had to limp it home over the weekend due to this issue. I ran it by a auto shop and had them check the alt with there scanner and they said the battey, alt and starter all were good. I changed the alt belt and made sure the alt bracket was adjusted and the belt is tight so i know its not due to a loose belt. Any ideas??

I've been looking at the inside of the engine bay and thought it might be fairly easy to do a conversion on this car with out a conversion kit by flipping the rack and pinnion. If I am wrong or if there are some easier ways to change the driving sides please let me know.

I just bought a 1982 honda civic 1300. I am trying to find out if this car came from the factory with a ek1 motor .the guy I bought it from said it was the stock motor but he was the third owner. i think somewhere down the line it was changed. the numbers on the motor are EK1 5530054. the best I can tell is thats a 1.8 and the civic didn't have that engine as an option in 82. I really need to know more about this motor like what to set the valve lash, spark plug gap and I would like to change the timing belt.

any help would be great.
Thanks, James
